The commissioner for Youth Development Hon. Oghenekaro Ilolo has called on Non Governmental and Voluntary Organisations in the State to register their association with the Directorate of Youth Development for proper documentation,monitoring and collaboration.
Hon Ilolo made the call in Asaba when the forum of Delta state NGOs paid him a courtesy call in his office in Asaba.
The Commissioner who frowned at NGOs who did nor register their organization, stated that lack of registration of some NGOs has hindered the Directorate form checkmating their activities,even as he said that it also affected their upgrading.
He stated that the NGOs of the state should have a data base that would enable the State Government identify the organisations that are serious and ready to work as NGOs to achieve the aim of NGOs in their different endeavour,saying that it would not be business as usual for NGOs in the State.
According to the Commissioner, The Directorate of Youth Development is focus on developing the Youth,including young women and not only young boys,and thus need collaboration with NGOs to achieve the State Government’s programme and policies for developing them,even as he urged the NGOs to draw up programmes that are in line with Youth development for better collaboration.
Earlier, the Chairman of the forum of Delta State NGOs, Mr Okezi Odugala, thanked the state Government for being Youth friendly government and the various empowerment programmes aimed at developing the youth.
Mr Odugala promised that the organization will go back to the drawing board to do the needful.
