DELTA STATE MYD MARKS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2020

DELTA STATE MINISTRY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT MARKS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2020 WITH TOP BUSINESS LEADERS & LIFE COACH IN A MASTER CLASS ON 13TH AUGUST 2020

As part of the events to mark the United Nations International Youth week 2020, The Ministry of Youth Development hosted a Master Class session for youths across the Delta State.
The participants were drawn from representatives of Faith Based Organizations, Voluntary Youth Organizations, Community Youth Association, Youth focused Organizations and Stakeholders.

His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah charged the youths to discover their inherent talents, redirect their energies into productive ventures that compliment efforts of government in youth development.

Top government functionaries at the event include, Barr. Chiedu Ebie -Secretary to the State Government, Mr Mathew Itshekiri – Commissioner of Science and Technology, Barr. Peter Mrakpor- Attorney General (ably represented), Chief Emuobor Gbagi – Special Adviser,Youth Development, Mrs Marilyn Okowa- Daramola – Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Girl Child/ Empowerment amongst others.

The programme featured the following speakers, who spoke extensively on these thematic areas:

  1. Youth Engagement for Global Impacts: Laws, Policies and Implementation – Delta State Perspective by Dr. Kingsley Emu, Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Delta State.
  2. Youth Engagement for Global Impact: Peer Influencing by Mr. Steve Harris, Business Coach / Strategist.
  3. Youth Engagement for Global Impact: Economic Opportunities and Realities by Dr. Gabriel l. Ogbechie the Group Managing Director, Rainoil Limited, Lagos.

From the various Speakers, the youths were enjoined to be purposeful and channel their strengths, initiatives to building a sustainable society, that is, making the right choices, taking chances and changing their narratives “We are not limited by what we don’t have but what we have that we don’t know how to use”. One of the Speakers said.
The program also afforded youths opportunity to ask questions and interact with the Speakers.

The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga in his speech earlier tasked the youths to wake up and take the lead in the “NEW NORMAL” by leveraging on every opportunity made available by the Delta State Government and become solution provider and peer influencers in their communities.

The high points of the events, were the stage drama and the presentation of certificate of recognition to five outstanding Youth Organization who submitted entries for the DELTA NEW TRIBE Program
